HUGE PRAYERS NEEDED !!
For Tim & Kelly...............Hi Friends, Thank you all so much for your prayers concerning the crisis in Jos right now, PLEASE don't stop! I just spoke with Tim (8:30 Central time), and here is the latest: Yesterday evening, the military moved into the areas with the most concentrated rioting in Jos. They arrested many of the M*slims in those neighborhoods (one is directly behind our compound), and apparently they informed the "Christians" in the area that they could do whatever they wanted to do. So the Christians torched the homes of the M*slims, acting exactly as the M*slims had behaved earlier in the day. (This is a typical cycle of retaliation between the 2 warring religions.) Tim said that things were quiet in the night, but at 6a.m. this morning, they all awoke to machine gun fire, which continued until around noon. He estimates 500 "refugees" on our compound at present, mostly women and children. Our compound is surrounded by a 10 foot brick wall which is partially topped with razor wire and broken glass. We have 2 gated entrances which are guarded by several VERY old, unarmed guards. We have 7 families living on our compound and 13 children. When asked about how my children were handling the crisis, Tim told me that Schyler (our 11 year old daughter) was having a very difficult time, feeling very anxious and wanting her Mom. :( In 2001, there was a serious religious crisis in Jos, when an estimated 10,000 people were killed over a 2 week period. We do NOT want a repeat. Please pray that the military will be present and FAIR, not preferring one group over the other. There are stories of some soldiers giving fire arms to Christians to defend property against M*slims. As for my knee surgery, all went very well and I am recovering at my parents home in Texas. The pain is present, but the situation with my family in Nigeria puts my own discomfort into good perspective. Of course it is very hard to be away from them right now. • Elizabeth--Please keep Meagan in your prayers today. We have an appointment this afternoon with the hand surgeon to further examine her wrist fracture. They will have to do an IV in order to do a fluoroscopy and then will do an MRI. She is a typical 10yo and has a definite aversion to needles. A typical scaphoid fracture can require a cast of 6 weeks but sometimes up to 6 months! Surgery is frequently necessary due to compromised blood flow to the bones in the wrist and arm. I'm going to remain positive but also prepared :)Thanks, Elizabeth
• Maggie W.--Praise God for giving David B. a new lease on life w/his surgery yesterday to clean out the carotid artery. All going well, he should go home today. Please keep both him and his wife, Lora, in your prayers. She needs lots of strength and focus to take care of him. Their grandchild, Colten, also needs prayer. He is around 3 and he has begun stuttering quite a bit. Also, pray for our friend Pat's mom, who has cancer and expects to go to her final home before Christmas. • Maria O.--Our son Andres will be going in today for an upper GI test to see why he has been vomiting for the past three weeks. Please pray that everything is ok and it is just a nervous stomach that can be helped through counseling and pray for complete healing. Thank you.

• Vanessa P. --I have a prayer request that I need your help with. Jeanette R's best friend, Brandy, is dealing with the potential loss of her husband. Joey was involved in a plant explosion last night at the ship channel in Houston and suffered burns on over 90% of his body. The doctors told Brandy that he has a 5-10% chance of survival. Please get the word out about this family needing prayers. Brandy and Joey have three young boys and she is a stay-at-home mom. This is the family that Jeanette lived with when she first moved back to Houston and Brandy is her partner in the bow business she runs. Joey is obviously not doing well and Brandy is a mess. Please pray and ask others to pray.

• Maggie W.--Please pray for our friend Pat's mom. She has Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, subcategory Diffuse B-Cell Lymphoma. The doctor said that is an aggressive, fast-growing type that, as itʼs name implies, is spread throughout the body. At this point, she's saying no to the chemo, because the told her it would be extremely debilitating (nausea and such) and she'd get mouth sores from the drugs, making it hard for her to eat.

Hi All~
Please be in prayer for Michael Geiger. This afternoon after school he slammed his finger in a door at the school and bent the nail back at the cuticle. They're on their way to the emergency room right now (5:07) to have it looked at to make sure it's not broken. Bram is on his way to be w/ them until Bryan can get there. Be praying for Frances, too. She was pretty shook up when I talked to her. Apparently there's a LOT of blood.

Bryan and Frances are still at the hospital. The anesthetic wasn't working so they had to put him all the way under. The doctor will remove Michael's fingernail and sew it up. He also has a bone chip at the tip of his last digit but it's small enough to let be.

Hopefully they'll all get some rest tonight.

• Maria O.-- Just wanted everyone to know that Ann will be leaving for Louisiana monday morning at 6am from Pflugerville with the Murphy's Disaster Relief Team. She will be traveling to Jennings, Luisiana (close to Lafayette) to help people in need after the severe weather from hurricane Gustav hits. Let's pray for a hedge of protection around Ann, her team and their vehicle, for safe travel and a safe return, for her to have phone service so that she can keep in touch with Shelly, for her to help others and spread the Lord's love while she is over there. We love you Ann!

• Maggie W.-- Thank you for the prayers for my cousin Santana in Illinois when the doctors could not figure out what was wrong. God does hear our prayers! Got this from his sister: latest update on Santana is he was suffering from a severe case of Auto Immune Pancreatitis manifesting itself with several grave side effects - one being pain of the sciatic nerve. When after so many tests and an administration of steroids to relieve the pain, the steroid attacked not just the pain, but the responsible cause, being a very ill and inflammed pancreas that was being obstructed from view in the testing by other vital organs and intestines. The Good Lord once again lets us know that when all of man's knowledge is exhausted, He is ready, willing, and able to step in and take charge! All of us united in Love and Prayer are witnesses of His Divine and GREAT Power. Please also pray for God to continue to diffuse Gustav and diminish the wind velocity, and for the levees to hold, for any people who may have chosen to stay behind and all those others whose lives are being interrupted.

• Maria O.--Hello Everyone, I am asking that you pray for my 9 yr old nephew Christopher who has autism. He will be going in tomorrow for a tooth extraction at 7:30 am. He will first need to drink a liquid (that doesn't taste good) that will mildly sedate him in order for the dentist to be able to give him the shot that will numb out the area of the tooth extraction. Please pray that he swallows the liquid without resistance and also that it reacts well with him. Pray that he is sedated enough and quickly so that the dentist can give him the shot in his mouth and remove his tooth without any complications. Pray for Christopher to have peace and to feel calm and safe and loved. Pray for my sister Yolanda, for the Lord to give her the physical and emotional strength that she will need to hold Christopher during this procedure and throughout the day. Pray for the dentist and all envolved, that the Lord will guide their hands and bless them with patience for Christopher. Also pray for Christopher's pain to subside tonight so that he can get a good night's rest. Thank you for keeping my sister and my nephew in your prayers.

PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM!!!! After our journey of faith walking trust... it looks like we have direction and answers from the Lord. We have come to conclude that maybe we wouldn't be considered for the financial assistance to John's medical bills if we bought the home during the processing of our application and currently it looks positive that we are going to get either all or large discount to John's medical bills - Praise be to our Father!!! Then, the home sellers have agreed to let us lease until we can be approved for our loan to buy which should only be 3-6 months and by then we will have our medical bills finalized as well. We sign our lease tomorrow but they can't be moved out until Thurs. Then we will go over and move in Thurs. AND I want you to know that because we don't have the time to get our things out of storage until Sat. We are going to sleep on our NEW mattress until we get our beds!!! Yah...thank you ...thank you.. we are sooo happy. We laughed last night because I said, Honey...there's light at the end of the tunnel. John said, YA and it's not a train! Elida R.--Please pray for our children, John and Christi, children, Terah and Jordon Barnes. John accepted a position as a Youth Minister in Aledo Texas 41/2 months ago!!! (close to Stephenville, Texas) Since then, they sold their home in Colorado and have been living day to day with friends and neighbors. They found a home to buyin Texas 4 miles from where John will be working. They have submitted all their paperwork to the Broker and Lender but have not been able to close as of yet. They feel defeated and need alllllllll our prayers that God's will will be for them to have a permanent home for them and their children and answer their prayers. I greatly will appreciate it if you keepthem allllll in your prayers.
